David L. McFarland

David L. McFarland passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, at the age of 81. He was born on February 8, 1938, in Dayton, OH. He was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and currently attended New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (formerly Faith Vision Baptist Church) in Dayton, OH. Most people knew him by “Sonny” and he loved to walk, participate in church activities, volunteer, and maintain the upkeep of the church.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. David W. & Julia McFarland; his brother, Theodore McFarland; and his daughter, Theresa McFarland. David is survived by his wife, Mary D. McFarland (her sons: James Moody and Jerome Sanders); his sister, Betty Winslow (Martin); his daughter, Cecilia Monifa Mahdi; his son, David McFarland (Cheryl). He is also survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sisters-in-law: Tina Blackford, Emma Bruton, Frances Thompson, Matilda McFarland Williams; brother-in-law, Eugene Dixon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
