On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Almeter T. Proctor was called home and transitioned from earth to glory. She was the fifth of six Lipscomb girls born to the late Johney and Gracie Lipscomb on September 17 in Gaffney, SC.
Almeter was a woman of great faith and a strong spiritual foundation. She was baptized early in her youth at the Island Creek Baptist Church, where she began her service to the Lord. It was also at Island Creek where she met and married her best friend and husband, W.C. Proctor on April 27, 1946. In 1950, she, “Little Dub” and three of their four children, moved to Dayton, Ohio where they united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
At Mt. Olive, Almeter served in various ministries and auxiliaries with the majority of her time spent serving as a Deaconess, Usher, and the President of the Church Building Club. Later in life, she became a charter member of Faith Vision Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Malik T. Shaw.
Throughout her life, Almeter remained committed to serving the Lord and actively supported the work of her church through giving, praying, and encouraging everyone she knew with the word of God.
Almeter was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was dearly loved, well-respected, and personified grace, beauty, and elegance. She dedicated her life to nurturing her entire family, friends, church family, neighbors, and the community. She could connect personally with anyone and create lasting friendships with everyone she touched.
Out of all of the relationships, friendships, and personal connections that blessed Almeter’s life, she was most proud of her 70-year marriage and covenant relationship with her husband, the late W.C. They remained dedicated to one another; enjoying a life-long courtship and a honeymoon that never ended.
Almeter leaves to cherish her beautiful memories; four loving children, Audrey Proctor, Lexington Kentucky, Roger (Mary) Proctor, Elaine (the late Steve) Jackson, Paul Proctor, and caring family Anndail (Lonny) Gilbert; Eight grandchildren Deidra Proctor, Ft.
