Anna E. Harris, of Dayton, Ohio, journeyed peacefully into eternity on Friday, November 25th, 2022, at the age of 92 years old.
Anna was one of seven children born to Elisha and Katie Jackson in Maysville, Kentucky on August 28, 1930. At an early age, the family moved to Dayton, Ohio. In 1948, Anna graduated from Dunbar High School.
Anna married Harry L. Harris, Jr. on January 11, 1958. While Harry was a meteorologist in the United States Air Force, both Anna and Harry traveled with their young family throughout the World and stateside until Harry retired in 1968.
Anna enjoyed a career as a contractor for clients doing business at the Defense Electronics Supply Center in Kettering, Ohio. Anna was also an exemplary and sought-after personal shopper for Elder-Beerman Department Stores until her retirement.
Anna was a founding member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, where she was instrumental in securing the church steeple. She also taught Sunday School, was on the Missionary Board, and was a Sunday School Treasurer. She was a Treasurer for Christian Women’s Coalition. She was a member of the Democratic Club and Jefferson Township Coalition.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Elisha and Katie Jackson; husband, Harry L. Harris, Jr.; 4 sisters; Irene (Charles) Hall, Stella (John) Bennett, Dora (Walter) Jones, and Edythe (Sam) Goshay; and 1 brother, Thomas Duke (Dorothy) Jackson. Anna is survived by 1 sister; Lois Jean (Luther) Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Anna was a loving and dedicated Mother. She is survived by 5 children; Gary D. Harris of Lithonia, GA, Joslynn V. Harris of Lorton, VA, Shelley (Sammy) Davis of Hampton, VA, Michele Y. Harris of Columbus, OH and Michael E. Harris of Centerville, OH; 4 grandchildren, Charisse (Corey) Smith, Michael L. Harris, Stacey A. E. Johnson, and Alyssa L. Harris; 3 great-grandchildren; Alexus Harris, Corrie Merilus, and Quigley M. J. Burris; and 1 great, great-grandchild, Amelie Merilus. She leaves behind a host of Nieces, Nephews, along with and other loved ones that she adored.
