Anthony Robert Davis, affectionately known as Tony, was born on September 28, 1959, to Helen S. Davis and the late Samuel Robert Davis in Tachikawa, Japan. As the first-born child into this U.S. Air Force family, Tony’s education and journey included living in Japan, Dayton, Ohio, Bitburg, Germany, and North Syracuse, New York. Tony graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1977; that fall, Tony attended West Virginia University (WVU).
After WVU, Tony returned to the Dayton area and held various jobs; his hard work ethic landed him a nine-year stint as a Materials Clerk at Wright Patterson Air Force, Fairborn, Ohio. Because of his dedication and high performance at WPAFB, Miller Brewing Company quickly swept him away when they planned a brewery in Trenton, Ohio. Tony dutifully rotated all three shifts every six weeks for twenty-two years. In the fall of 2014, Tony retired from Miller Brewing Company and ventured off to a retirement full of leisure.
No matter what level, Tony was an avid football fan. Starting on Friday nights, Tony would cheer on Huber Heights’ Wayne High School Warriors; nothing could make him miss an Ohio State University Buckeye game; as you know, there was no way he would miss a game played by his beloved Dallas Cowboys. At every opportunity, Tony was in “the Shoe,” cheering and “calling plays” from his near sideline seats. Additionally, he endeavored to attend any game when the Cowboys were playing in or close to Ohio. In December of 2023, he made his trek to “Jerry’s World” to witness “them Cowboys” on their home turf; that trip to Dallas was the pinnacle of his football experiences.
Tony is notably known as a son, brother, uncle, father figure, and friend. He was considered another son to his aunts, whom he often called moms. As a brother, Tony went above and beyond for his siblings. Many friends adopted Tony as a brother. Tony loved children, though he had no biological children. Tony stepped up at every opportunity to be a father figure to those whose fathers were not available and became an “Uncle” to those who cherished his love for them. Tony made friends very quickly; he was quick to be there when needed, leaving people feeling special and cherishing every moment he spent with friends and family. Tony lived in the present and lived every day until his death.
Tony joined Fairhaven Church in Springboro, Ohio, and found a community that expanded his relationship with Christ, faith, family, and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Samuel R. Davis; stepdaughter, Nichol Leigh Sanford Hinojosa; aunt, Lauria Nicholas; bonus brother, Bryan Fox; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tony leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Helen Davis; sister, Myra Davis; brother, William (Heather) Davis; niece, Johnnalyn Davis; nephew, Avery Davis; Aunt, Joanne Nicholas; step-grandsons Martez Channels and Larry Peterson III; step-granddaughter, Nadia Hinojosa; bonus daughter, Farah Shook; bonus sister, Jennifer Fiorita; bonus brothers; Edward Kingsbury, Derrick Smalls, and Edwin Primm; and bonus nephew, Kavon Armour; and a host of other relatives and friends.
