Antoinette Wortham Obituary

Ms. Antoinette “Bamm” Wortham departed this earthly life Friday, April 9, 2022, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Antoinette was born November 2, 1963, in Dayton, Ohio to Raymond and Mary Wortham.

She was a graduate of John H. Patterson Co-Operative High School class of 1982, Bachelor degree - Central State University 1986, Master’s degrees - Phoenix Grand Canyon University 2018 and 2020; and was working towards her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership: K-12 Leadership at Phoenix Grand Canyon University. Antoinette was employed with the District of Columbia Public Schools for 18 years. Her last assignment was with Barnard Elementary School where she served as an Elementary Educator, Afterschool Program Coordinator, and Cheer/Dance/Step Team Coach for seven years. Educating, encouraging, and motivating her students through academics and dance was her passion. She will always be remembered for her school’s participation in the annual Silver Spring, Maryland’s Thanksgiving Parades, and for equipping her students with tools to impact and change the world.

Antoinette was a dutiful and faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Glenarden. She had a beautiful personality, a giving spirit, and she never met a stranger. If she knew that you needed something, she would not hesitate to help you.  Although Antoinette is gone from the body, she will forever live on in everyone who knew her.

Antoinette was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Jeffie Jackson, Arthur V. and Mattie Wortham; sister, Vickie Stallworth; aunts, Jessie Watts, JoAnn Wortham, and Primmer Thurmond; Uncles, James Jackson, John Wortham, and Harold Wortham.
