Betty L. Williams Obituary

Betty Lou Williams, age 91, of Englewood, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. She was born on May 8, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Ralph Sr. and Rosa (Vaughn) Farr.

Betty attended Dayton public schools and proudly graduated from Dunbar High School in the class of 1951. Her passion for education led her to Central State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1977. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to her community continued as she pursued a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Dayton and later, a Master of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary.

For over 22 years, Betty was a devoted educator in the Dayton Public School system, starting as a teacher's assistant and working her way up to Assistant Principal. Her influence touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.

A committed member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Beta Eta Omega Chapter, for 33 years, Betty was deeply involved in her sorority’s initiatives, working to uplift others through education, community service, and sisterhood.

Betty was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where her faith was central to her life. She served as the Christian Education Director, was a key member of the Scholarship Committee, and was a Sunday School teacher. These roles she fulfilled with grace and dedication, always working to support and uplift the next generation.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Benjamin Williams; her parents, Ralph and Rosa Farr; her four sisters, Grace (Henry) Statesman, Evelyn (Stratton) Kendrick, Helen (William) Cable, and Barbara L. Williams; her brother, Ralph Farr Jr.; and several cherished aunts.

Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. She is survived by her two sons, Darryl E. (Sarah) Williams and Timothy W. Williams, both of Dayton, who will forever cherish her memory. She also leaves behind two grandchildren Joshua D. and Michaela R. Williams; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends, sorority sisters, church family, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.

In her spare time, Betty found joy in traveling and playing dominos, creating lasting memories with those she loved.

Her family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well lived, knowing that Betty’s spirit of love, education, and faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.

**"Well done, good and faithful servant."**
