Betty Jean McDonald, age 87 went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2021. She was born Betty Jean Turner on February 18, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio to Marguerite and Oscar Turner.
Betty Jean attended Dunbar High School and was later employed with Pantorium Cleaners for over 10 years and General Motors (Inland Division) for 30 years.
Betty Jean was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over fifty years where she served on the Usher Board; she later attended Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Betty Jean volunteered at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Dayton Police Curfew Sweep, Montgomery County Board of Elections and gave to various charities over the years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, Sunday dinners after Worship, working in her garden and telling everyone how good God is.
Betty Jean was preceded in death by her parents: Marguerite and Oscar Turner; stepmother, Dehlia Turner; grandmother, Hester Davis; brothers, Ronald Turner, Oscar Turner Jr. and Torrence Turner; son, Terry McDonald; nephew, Oscar Turner III and niece, Annette Turner.
Betty Jean leaves to cherish her memory: son, Derric McDonald (Stephanie); grandsons, Terry McDonald, Jr. and Dion McDonald; great-greatchildren: Terry III, Tylisia, Ty’Eisia, Alexandria, Tye’Vinson, Brianna and Lyna; niece, Denise Harden (Larry); special sister, Bessie Coleman, great nieces: Yvonne Turner and Teresa Shilo; great nephew, Phillip Tramell and a host of loving and devoted family, friends and neighbors.
