Betty E. Rollins Smalley, born October 8, 1935, in Tram, Kentucky to John and Nettie Rollins. She departed this life taking her heavenly father’s hand on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Smalley, Sr., parents, and sister Salley Wilson.

After retiring from the City of Chicago, Betty and her husband James relocated to Dayton, OH. Betty enjoyed shopping and traveling with her best sister friend Toni Wade. Betty was a huge Bengals and Ohio State football fan; she and Toni also participated in weekly football watch parties! She also enjoyed spending time with her close cousin Morton, reminiscing of the good times, and traveling back home to Tram to visit family and friends.

Betty is survived by her dear cousin/caregiver Morton J. Hunt, Sr., a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends, who will remember a sweet and loving person. She will be dearly missed.

Graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Dayton National Cemetery (V.A.). The eulogy will be delivered by James E. Washington, Pastor of Phillips Temple Church, Trotwood, Ohio.
