Betty J. Littlejohn Fountaine Obituary

Betty J. Littlejohn Fountaine was born April 8, 1955 in Beaufort, South Carolina. She passed away February 27, 2025. She resided in Dayton, Ohio for 69 years. At an early age, she was a member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. John H. Buckman. Later, she joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sylvester Walker. She was a faithful member. She worked on the kitchen committee and also as an usher, greeter.


Betty attended Roosvelt High School. She retired from Miami Valley Hospital. After retiring, she worked at Esther Price Candies.


Betty was family-oriented and loved doing family outings and gatherings. Betty was a leader and always served as co-pilot on family vacation. Betty was very outgoing.


Betty was preceded in death by her parents: James D. Littlejohn Sr. and Agnes Littlejohn; grandmother Rosetta Smalls; brother John Smalls Sr.; sister Emily Scott; nephews Willie Bailey III and Pastor Christopher T. Adams; niece Patrice R. Goodwin; uncle Robert Smalls; husband William Grant Fountaine.


She leaves to cherish her memory her faithful, loving devoted daughter Rachel Y. Reese; her loving fiancé Michael J. Warden and his daughter Miracle Bradfield; two devoted brothers James D. Littlejohn Jr. (Juanita Kinlock) and Albert Smalls (Marquette Smalls); devoted sisters: Patricia Williams, Deloris White (Dale White Sr.), Rosetta Littlejohn; one aunt Annie Smalls; one uncle Clarence Smalls Jr.; special devoted brother-in-law Steven Fountaine; cousins: Benjamin Littlejohn and family and Julia Littlejohn and family along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two goddaughters: Andrea Tribble and Trina Kelly. She will also be missed dearly by special friends: Betty E. Porter, Julia Brown, Alex Morrow, Jackie Davidson, Vera Bozeman, Carolyn Moore, Jackie Camp and Betty Harold Lee from South Carolina.
