Billy G. Bursey Obituary

Billy Gene Bursey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He departed his earthly home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.   Billy was born in Lisbon, Louisiana to Lugine and Bessie (Kimble) Bursey.  He moved to Dayton, Ohio after graduating from Homer High School.  He attended Sinclair Community College where he obtained his Associate’s Degree in Electrical Construction Management. 


Billy loved the Lord.  He was a man of deep faith and a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over 50 years.


Billy was a dedicated professional and hard worker; he retired from Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) after 39 years of service.  He also worked at; Stingers Ford, Charley’s Bakery and Miami Valley Hospital.


Billy’s greatest enjoyment was being with his family!  He also enjoyed dining out and some good ol’ blues music.  His exceptional legacy will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Lugine and Bessie Bursey; siblings – Katherine, Trudy, Fedis, James, Doris, & Ollie Bursey; and bonus granddaughters; Raelyn Rowland & Glenda Madison Burg.  He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving and devoted wife, Beverly Bursey; Children – Vickie Davis; Teresa (Darryl) Goldsmith, bonus children- Dwight (Deborah) Crosby, Tebin Burg, Daphne (Henry) Trussell, Cherisse (Keith) Rountree, Beverly (Rodney) Moon, Tonya Clark Boddie, Raymond (Nicole) Rowland.  Siblings – Lessie Mae Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; Charles (Ruth) Bursey of Dayton; Annie (Larry) Lovelace of Dayton.  Grandchildren – Kameka (Jesse) Dunson; Kimberly Grider; Janae Goldsmith; and Devon (Jasmine) Goldsmith.  Bonus Grandchildren - Kym, Ashlee & Antwan Hairston, ShaRae Rowland, Chante & Anthony Dunlap, Chelsea & Jewell Moon, Liracle (Keenan) Kidd, and Kierra Rountree.  Billy was also blessed to have 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
