David Eugene Colter was born November 27, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to David Colter and Bessie Williams Colter. He departed this life June 29, 2020.
A graduate of Dunbar class of 1954. He was a machine shop supervisor and an area manager for Dayton Walther and retired in 2000. He later worked for Senior Resource Connection’s Meals on Wheels program and retired after 17 years.
He was the past Master of Ancient Square Lodge #40, past Potentate Amer Temple #107 and a 33° Mason of Miami Consistory #26.
In his younger days, he was an avid motorcyclist and later an avid camper and a member of Buckeye Explorers RV club.
He was preceded in death by his father David Colter and stepmother, Jeanette Colter and his fraternal grandmother Hazel Whatley who raised him after his mother died; sister, Caroline; sons: Darren Colter, Kevin Colter; daughter, Andrea Bennett Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife and best friend of 48 years, Leontine Colter; sons: David, Jr., Eric (Jennifer) and Charles Colter, Joel and Gregory Bennett all of Dayton, Ohio and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; special friends: George Goolsby; Jim & Silvia Hill.
