Dawson J. Bell, age 84, of Huber Heights. Devoted and loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, died unexpectedly in a car accident on July 8, 2021. He was born October 18, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Albert Bell and Delores Jackson. He was educated in the Philadelphia school district. Following graduation from high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he attended and graduated from the Air Force Flight Engineering School. During his Air Force service, he was assigned to the Apollo Mission under the direction of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. After 26 years of faithful and honorable service, he was honorably discharged. Following discharge he and his family relocated to Dayton, OH, where he was employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, retiring in 1981. He was the recipient of many awards and service medals throughout his career. He and his wife Betty Ruth Bell were married over 65 years and were the parents of seven biological children and the adopted parents of five children. He was a faithful member of the Ethan Temple Seventh-day Adventist where he served as a deacon and was a member of the church choir. Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Deborah Lee Jackson and Delores Levi; one daughter, Marva Dillard, he is survived and deeply loved by his wife, Betty Ruth Bell; children, Dawson Bell, Jr., Tina Willingham, Tammy Jackson, Anthony Bell, Kimberly Bell, David Bell; adopted children Arnise Bell, Dasia Bell Dunlow, Asia Bell, Whitney Bell, Taki Montgomery, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
