Our beloved mother, Deborah (Debbie) Lynn McDade, passed on July 18, 2024, at the age of 73. She was a pillar of strength and love in our lives, always offering unwavering support, wisdom, and kindness. Deborah's presence touched countless hearts in the Dayton, Ohio community, where she will be deeply missed.
Deborah was born on June 21, 1951, in Middletown, Ohio, the youngest of six children to Reverend Dr. Frank H. Hampton and Nadine A. Hampton. When Deborah was one year old, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended Cleveland Public Schools. Later returning to Middletown, she graduated from Middletown High School in 1969 and pursued higher education at the University of Dayton and Moody College.
Throughout her career, Deborah made significant contributions to various institutions. She began her professional journey in Chicago, Illinois, working at the University of Illinois before returning to Dayton. Her career included roles at the University of Dayton, the Dayton YMCA, Mini University, and Unity Bank, where she met her husband, Eugene McDade.
Deborah's dedication extended beyond her career as she was deeply committed to her community. She served as an election official with the Montgomery County Board of Elections for over 10 years and supported deployed troops through Operation Shoebox, exemplifying her commitment to civic duty. Her involvement touched many lives and showcased her generous spirit.
Deborah was also a dedicated member of Mount Enon Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. There she served as a member of the Usher Board and was the current President of the Senior Mission Ministry. She also served as the Financial Secretary for the 2nd District Women's Auxiliary of the Northwestern Ohio Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. (NOMBA) and the immediate Past President of the Mission and Evangelism Ministry Executive Board. She was an active member of the Ohio Baptist Women’s General Convention (OBGC) and served as Mt. Enon’s Voting Convention Delegate for the Northwestern Ohio Missionary Baptist Association (NOMBA) Annual Sessions. Deborah also facilitated lessons with the Bible Study Fellowship and attended Sounds Words, an extensive Bible Study.
Her commitment to service and faith enriched the lives of many within her church and community.
Deborah is preceded in death by her sister Marquita Hampton and brothers Brian Hampton and Brandon Hampton. She leaves behind a loving family: sister, Sharon Hampton; brother, Bruce Hampton (Donna) and three sons, Lawrence Corey Hampton (Chastity), Eric McDade (Kari), and Eugene McDade II, stepchildren Sherry McDade and Jason McDade (deceased). Grandchildren include, Taylor Johnson, Kelsey Hampton, Madison Pitts, Lawson Hampton, Zander McDade, Claudia McDade and Enzo McDade. Ten Great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
Deborah McDade's legacy of kindness, strength, and community dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing she made a profound impact on those around her. God Bless.
