Diane L. Mann Obituary

Diane L Mann, age 78, transitioned peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on March 24, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was the third of four daughters born to the late Roosevelt and Mercedes Mauldin on September 6, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a graduate of East Technical High School class of 1963. She attended and graduated from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio in 1967. Diane met Lavon Mann while attending CSU and they married June 24,1967. She retired from teaching with the Dayton Public School system where she taught many students English, Social Studies and French.

Diane was a member of Rockhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a previous choir member under the Late Rev. Dan P. Mann’s pastorship and a member of the women’s organization, Virtuous Women. She was involved in many activities within the school and educational realms to include: Cheerleading advisor at numerous schools, Parity Inc, Youth in Government, Honor Society, Lifetime member DEA-R, WOER-R, Greater Dayton Recreation Center volunteer, and The Phi Delta Kappa Sorority Inc., Beta Delta Chapter. She attended Wright State University while working on her Master’s Degree.

Diane enjoyed attending her grandson’s basketball games and was one of their biggest cheerleaders from the stands. She enjoyed spending time with family and “Sister Time” meant the world to her.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Mercedes Mauldin, Father and Mother in Love, Rev. Dan P. And Luvenia Mann and Grandmother, Ruth Washington.

Diane leaves to cherish her memory, devoted caregivers, daughter and son-in-love, Sheree and Jay Allen, devoted caregiver, life-long husband, Rev. Dr. Lavon Mann and Grandsons, Dee and DaLonte Capers, Son, Rev. Dr. Larry (Veontae) Mann and Granddaughters, Ashley Rutledge, Khaliah Coleman and Kyndall Mann. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory three loving sisters, Joyce Mauldin, I’Nita Hafley, and Alicia (John) Bryant, cherished friends: Walta Hughes (Butchie), Cheryl Polley, Maxine James, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Patterson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Grand Dog Astro. A special thank you to Benita Allen and the Miami Valley Hospital nurses who took extra special care with her during her last hospitalization.
