Donald Henderson Obituary

Donald Henderson was born in Cohutta, GA on August 19, 1938 and departed his earthly life on June 13, 2024 at the age of 85.  At the age of 3, he and his family moved to Dayton to begin a new chapter in their lives.


He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956.  A couple a years after graduating from High School, Donald enlisted into the United States Army and served for three years from 1958 - 1961.  During his time in the Army, he would say, “I could shine my shoes so good you could see your face.” He worked at Inland (GM) until he retired after 31 years in 1996. He became a member of Corinthian Baptist Church at a younger age.


Donald met the love of his life, Mary Darlene (Moran), in 1963. It was love at first sight. Later that year on August 17, 1963, they became husband and wife. From this union, they were Blessed with three beautiful daughters. They were Blessed to celebrate just over 59 years of marriage, until, God granted his wife with eternal rest on December 28, 2022.


He enjoyed bowling, fishing, drawing, watching martial arts movies, grilling, and spending time with his family and friends.


Donald preceded into the afterlife joining his beloved wife Mary Darlene, his beautiful daughter, Donyale Henderson, his mother, Katherine Henderson, his father, Edgar Seitz, his grandparents, Frank and Irene Jackson, as well as many other relatives who have gone on before him.


Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughters: Kiva Henderson and Joya (Carlton) Sykes. Three grandchildren: Cyrus, Chase and Ca’More Sykes. Siblings: Peggy (Henry) Johnson, Francine (Ryan) Mullins, James Henderson, JoAnn Seitz, Shirley Seitz, and Jeff (Rosemary) Seitz.  His in-laws: Audrey Brooks, Francis Baxter, and Veltra Moran. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
