Douglas Glen Brown, age 56, departed this life Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton after a strong battle with cancer.
Douglas was born December 27, 1963 in Dayton OH. As a child, he liked to read, share everything he knew, and of course make music. Music was his life! In his youth he followed in his father's footsteps and was a member of Gospel quartet Evangelist Jr. His love of music-fueled him- he played guitar, keyboard, sung, and wrote. Days after graduating high school Douglas moved to New York City to pursue his dream of becoming a music artist. He had a level of determination and confidence that granted him many opportunities including a self-produced record. Although far in distance his family was near to his heart, he would regularly check on his mother and wanted to make sure she was taken care of. Douglas lived life to the fullest and although not a people person was a hero to many during the 911 attack. Before heading to New York Douglas joined Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. His Christian belief stayed with him, when he returned home and continued with the fight of his life he was often comforted by the song "Something About the Name Jesus".
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and brother-in -aw Bobby Burton.
Those left to treasure his memories are his parents Lee Russell & Ada Ruth Brown; siblings Michael Brown, Robert (Marie) Brown, Janice Burton, and Sharon Herring; a loving companion Denise Skinner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
