Eleanor Sharpe, age 94, affectionately known as "GRANDMA" was born March 23, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Melvin & Lillie Mae Parks. She departed this life, PEACEFULLY, February 1, 2025.
Eleanor gave her life to Christ at an early age. She later joined Omega Baptist Church and faithfully attended until she was unable to physically attend, but always proclaimed her love for Christ and her Omega family!
She worked various jobs in Dayton, OH. She also enjoyed attending the Wesley Center, where she loved the comradery and the senior shopping trips.
Eleanor moved to the Hoover Place Senior Community in 2006, where she was a resident until July 2024. She did not meet a stranger, and established a great bond with the office staff, who treated her as their grandma, with Mrs. Mary whom she enjoyed visiting, sharing hand-made gifts, but most of all, always exchanging candy! She appreciated Johnny, who was always available to assist her with anything she needed, or Lester, who never failed to acknowledge her by shouting "Hey JuBaby" (another of her nicknames). In August 2024, she transferred to a nursing facility until her time of passing.
As the matriarch of the family, Eleanor held unconditional love for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Otis Sharpe, three (3) siblings, one (1) daughter, Glenda Parks, two (2) grandchildren Michael White Jr. & MiKea Griffith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memory four (4) sons: William (Rosalind) Parks of Tampa, FL, Dwayne (Teresa) Sharpe, Walter (Rhonda) Sharpe and James Sharpe and two (2) daughters: Laura Travis of Cincinnati, OH and Elverna Phillips; twenty-eight (28) grandchildren, seventy-eight (78) great-grandchildren, twenty (20) great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
When anyone asked Grandma "how are you doing today, she'd always reply, " I ain't sick, I ain't hurtin', I ain't got no complaints" and when the conversation was over, in lieu of saying goodbye, she always ended her conversations with "have a blessed night or simply "So Long"... Grandma, as you are not sick, hurting and have no complaints, in lieu of goodbye, we'll simply say, WE LOVE YOU… SO LONG!
