Obituary

Elizabeth Parker Stratton “Bette” age 92, beloved wife and mother died peacefully on June 12, 2022 in Lansing Michigan.

Daughter of the late Johnnie Jones Parker and Emma Miles Parker, she was born on November 12, 1929 in Wilmington North Carolina. She moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania at a young age and finished her secondary education there.

She trained at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. to become a Registered Nurse.  She met her husband-to-be, a medical student, at the same hospital.

She was the widow of Harold C. Stratton Jr. They were married on June 25, 1955 in Washington D.C. They moved to Dayton Ohio in 1957. She worked as a Nurse at the V.A. Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and at her husband’s medical practice.  They were the proud parents of twin sons Harold (Hal) C. Stratton III and Whitney Parker Stratton.

She was a member of the Links, the Dayton Sophisticates, and various other organizations. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Church Episcopal Church in Dayton since 1957.  She relocated to Lansing Michigan with her husband in 2020 to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law.

She is survived by her son Hal (Karla) Stratton III of Lansing MI, nieces Kelly Davis; Susan (Eddie) Davis; Judy Rodgers; nephew Neil Rodgers, great nieces, a great-great niece, a great nephew and a great-great nephew.

She is predeceased by her husband Dr. Harold C. Stratton Jr., son Whitney Parker Stratton;  parents Johnnie Jones Parker and Emma Miles Parker; her aunt Helen Kennedy; cousin Winona Richburg; mother-in-law Edith Stratton; father-in-law Harold C. Stratton; sister-in-law Mary Rodgers; and nephew Robin Rodgers.

Dr. Stratton died September 19, 2020 amidst the height of the pandemic, we can now publicly celebrate both of their lives.
