Emory Howard Carter, age 87 transitioned from this life to be in the presence of the Lord, Thursday, April 7, 2022. He was the second born of four children on February 20, 1935, in Monroe, Georgia, to the union of the late Otis and Edna Carter Sr.
He graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from F.E. Longstretch Construction Company after 34 years of service.
Emory accepted Christ as his Savior, at a young age and was a member of Mount Enon Baptist Church.
He enjoyed watching sports especially baseball with his brothers, doing yard work, and love sitting on his porch relaxing. He was very quiet, kindhearted, and a humble man.
Emory was preceded in death by his beloved parents, brothers: Otis Jr. (Jacqueline), Clarence Sr., Rufus Gene, nephew Clarence (Jeff) Carter Jr., and devoted, loving friend Vicia Carter.
The memory of Emory H. Carter will be cherished by his loving nieces, nephews: Monica (Jewell) Wilson, Annette Carter, Janeen (Gregory) Hill, Celeste, Ilene, Ivan, Wesley, Amaryillis Carter, Amelia (Lance) Fancher, Peggy Carter-Williams, special family friends, Lolita Bryant, Howard Whitmore and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
