In Loving Memory of Lula Estoria Wright
1925 – 2025
With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Lula (Estoria) Wright, who passed away peacefully at the age of 100 years on September 14, 2025. A century of wisdom, curiosity, and resilience, she was a beloved spouse, parent, grandparent and great-grandparent.
Born February 1, 1925, in Independence, Alabama to Luzell Butler and Ola Lillian Butler. She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Old Kingston Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama. Estoria witnessed a world transformed—through wars, wonders, and technological revolutions—and met each chapter with curiosity and grace. A lifelong learner, Estoria enjoyed watching Jeopardy, staying up to date on current events and unscrambling the jumble puzzle in the newspaper; she could untangle the trickiest of word scrambles. It was a daily ritual for her nearly to the end and a testament to her sharp mind.
Preceded in death by husband Walter J. Wright and son Walter Wright Jr.; parents Luzell Butler and Ola Lillian Butler; siblings Luzell Butler Jr.; John Butler; Elnora King; Willie E Davis; Florece Glover; L.C. Butler; Leonard Butler; Willie Edward Butler; Rosetta Rawlinson and Grandson Jermaine Rudolph.
Survived by sisters Idella Goodson (Dayton OH) and Louella Butler (Prattville AL); children; Robert Butler (St. Louis MO.); Joyce Rudolph (Bronx NY.); Larry Wright (Trotwood OH); Debra Wright (Euless TX); Maurice Wright (Kingstown VA).; Tonnette Wright (Clayton OH) and William Wright (Dayton OH.) Devoted granddaughter Tosca McCormick (Round Rock TX) and host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Our memory of her will live on in our hearts forever.
