Flora Williams Johnson Obituary

Flora B. Collins Williams Johnson was born on November 4, 1929 to John Willie and Lula D. Collins in Vick, Arkansas. Flora Collins was the youngest girl who carried on her family’s Christian legacy right up to the day God called her home at 92 years old on May 12, 2022.

Flora grew up in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Hampton Chapel,  churches that her family helped build. Her young life flourished under the love of her brothers Willie, Arthur, George, Harry, Leamon, Philemon, James&, and sisters Annie Mae, Lee Essie, and Elenor who all preceded her in death. The only sibling who remains to celebrate the wonderful Collins legacy is her sister the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Collins Nichols.

Flora Collins attended school in Crosset, Arkansas where she met and married Luke Williams Jr. In 1950 the couple moved to Dayton Ohio where Flora eventually joined Shiloh Baptist Church, holding membership there for 68 years. Flora served in Shiloh Women’s Circle, Pastor’s Aid and the Mother’s  Board. Her family's history of church building in Arkansas served well in her commitment to Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was loved and honored as a church leader.

Her children loved her for every single motivating effort that she poured into them: Elona Beans, Rev. Dr. Flora Anders, Lauretta Williams, Dwight (Erma) Williams, Willie (Sayonora) Williams, Frank (Jacqueline) Williams,  and Olivia Thomas who preceded her in death.

Many years after the death of Luke Williams, she married Calvin Johnson. They built a union on their Christian faith that flourished at Shiloh Baptist Church. They traveled together and remained together until his death in 2011.

Mama Flora’s legacy is still being sowed year-round by her sixteen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and loving friends.
