Gary A. Hayden Obituary

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of honorable service. Following his military career, he continued his commitment to community care through his work with the Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he later retired.

A devoted man of faith, Gary was an active member of Rise Community Church, where he served as a leader of the Men’s Ministry and as a member of the church’s Leadership Team. He was known for his steady guidance, wisdom, and his quiet but powerful example of faith in action—always ready to serve God by serving humanity. He was also the creator of the Men’s Program “Sister, Sister, I’m Sorry.”

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Hayden, and mother, Edith Lytle (Robert “Bud”).

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Hayden; siblings: twin brother Larry Hayden (Denise), LaMonte Hayden Turner (Alma), Nancy Hickman (David), and Christopher Hayden; children: Erica Grace (Chris), Jasmine Mbah (Christopher), and Rodney Berry; grandchildren: Christopher Grace Jr., Makayla Grace, Maleah Grace, Alexis Blake, Christal Blake, and Regina Berry; special aunts: Thelma Wooten and Billye Gaines; along with extended family, church brothers and sisters, and countless friends who were blessed by his life, influence, and love of God.
