Geneva Tyree
Geneva Tyree Obituary
Geneva Tyree was born on April 16, 1934, in Greene County Alabama to James Bailey and Josephine Smith. She moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1953 and it was here that she met and married her soulmate. Their union endured 72 years until her death. She was employed as a Sales Associate with Shillito-Rikes and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Geneva was a great woman of faith, strength, and courage. She was a long-time member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In recent years she had membership with Zion Baptist Church, Believer’s Christian Fellowship Church and finally Corinthian Baptist Church. She was truly special – inside and out – and she will be profoundly missed by all who loved her.
Geneva passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Preceded in death by her father, James Bailey; mother, Josephine Williams; brothers Dewitt Bailey and Joe Louis Smith; and daughters, Veronica Tyree-Bennett and Amy Neilson. Survivors include her devoted spouse Albert P. Tyree (Dayton, Oh); brother, George Bailey (Tuscaloosa, AL); daughters, Joyce Bullard (James), Manassas, VA; Cecilia Greene (George), McGaheysville, VA; Janet Davis, Dayton, Oh; son-in-law Michael Neilson (Dayton, Oh); 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.
