Gereana Stargell Obituary

The life and legacy of our Great Matriarch Gereana Stargell. On December 5, 2021, in Dayton Ohio, a sweet spirit was tenderly removed from our midst to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents; D.L. & Mary Howard-Riley, one son Willie Charles Wiggins, three brothers; Willie Lee Riley, Mide Riley and R.L. Riley, two sisters; Roberta Riley and Alberta Riley.

Gereana Stargell was born on July 7, 1941, in Camden, Alabama. She was the oldest of her siblings and was very protective of them, and very protective of her children/grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She moved to Atmore (Robinsonville) as a small child. Later resided in Dayton Ohio for many years. In her later years she moved back to Atmore. In 2020 she moved back to Dayton where she passed. She was a caring and loving person, her joy in life was traveling, cooking, shopping, helping people, partying, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Atmore and a member at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio she served as dietary aid. Gereana was a member of the socialite Club in Dayton Ohio. Gereana was employed at General Motor of Dayton, Ohio for 15 years.

She leaves to cherish her memories one devoted daughter; Cathy Ann (Willie ‘Bill’) Wiggins-Finklea of Frisco City, three devoted sons; Perry (Londa) Wiggins Sr, of Florida and Calvin Wiggins Sr. and Charles (Andrea)Wiggins Sr. of Dayton Ohio. She had 15 grandchildren and 35 great-children and one great great-child. Three devoted sisters Betty Riley Grimes of Dayton, Ohio, Pearlie Mae Riley-Hall & Liza Riley-Wilson, both of Atmore, three devoted brothers of Atmore, Ervin Lee Riley, Ray Charles (Lasqueta) Frye-Riley & Terry (Dorothy Ann) Betts-Riley.

Devoted Friends Delores Dancy, Margret Israel and Celestine from Dayton Ohio and Ruth Hall from Georgia. Pastor & First Lady Nora Tucker, Anne Mae Johnson-Augustus & Linda Jackson all of Atmore. Host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Final service Turner Funeral Chapel and Interment Fairview Cemetery in Atmore, Alabama.
