Grady Beach Obituary

Grady Beach, born November 15, 1949 in Greenville, Alabama, the first of six children born to the late John Ceopha Beach and Lyvert Price Beach passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024 at the age of seventy-four at Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lyvert Beach, brother, Michael James Beach.

Grady graduated in 1969 from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio.

Shortly after graduation, he was drafted to serve his country in Viet Nam.  Grady went with a willing heart while consoling his mother and sister that everything would be all right.  Teasing them that he was waving to them from the airplane but all he could see was the tissues covering their faces.  Grady served with the Nighthawk Helicopter Division as they flew missions over the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone).  He contracted Malaria while there and was sent to Japan for medical treatment.  Upon completion of his treatment, he was released from the hospital and sent home. In typical Grady fashion, he surprised his family on his return by taking a cab from the Dayton International Airport on his birthday.

Grady worked for many years at Sears Roebuck Company, Standard Register Company, Danis Construction, Ponderosa Corporate Office, and the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Grady joined Wayman Chapel AME Church at Fifth and Bank Street under the late, Rev. Wallace Wright, Sr.  He was a member of the Sunday School Department, Youth Choir, Junior Ushers, Acolytes and active in all youth programs.

Grady’s love was boundless, and you knew that you were important and loved.

Grady leaves to cherish his memory brothers, Ceopha, David and Glenn (Diane) all of Dayton, Ohio, one sister, Glenda Thomas of Dayton, one sister in love, Donna Davis. Uncle, Charles Price of Honoraville, Alabama, Aunts, Mattie Lewis, Myra Riley, Vonita Price, Almer Price all of Cleveland, Ohio, Mariella Owens from Mableton, Georgia. Incredibly special friends, Ed Feldkamp and Charlene Thomaston. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins.

We, the family are eternally grateful to our brother, David for the loving care that he unselfishly provided for Grady.  Thank you, David for all that you have done!
