Gregory L. Minnifield Obituary

On August 20, 1962, the world was blessed with the birth of Gregory Lee Minnifield in Bowden, Georgia, born to the late Buford Minnifield and Martha Ann McCray. A man of incredible substance, high standards, and profound generosity, Gregory’s 63 years of life were defined by his dedication to his country, his community, and above all, his family.

Gregory laid his educational foundation at Belmont High School, graduating in the Class of 1980. Driven by a deep sense of duty, he went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Army. Specializing in Air Assault missile operations, he demonstrated the discipline, bravery, and leadership that would characterize the rest of his life. Following his military service, he attended Sinclair Community College and embarked on a remarkable 30-year career at the Dayton VA. Through his three decades of dedicated service, he did more than just his job—he built a community, forging lifelong friendships and touching the lives of countless veterans and colleagues.

To know Gregory was to know a man who held himself to the highest of standards. He was honest to a fault, possessing a rare and genuine sincerity that commanded the love and deep respect of everyone around him. When he wasn't working or serving others, Gregory knew how to enjoy life's simple and grand pleasures. He never tired of playing his video games, and he treasured every single moment spent traveling and making memories with his family. And, of course, no one could forget his unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers—he rode with his team through every season. GO BLACK AND YELLOW!
