H. Christine King

Helen Christine King, affectionately known as Chris, was born in Lithonia, Georgia, to the late Porter R. Lucas and Ada Maude Lucas. She was the youngest of three daughters. She married Gene P. King, and their union was blessed with three children. She was called home to the Lord on July 28, 2026.

Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene P. King; two of her three children, Carlton E. King and Felicia E. King; her sisters, Katherine Adams and Jeanette Garret; and her brothers, Henry Walter Carter and Nathaniel P. Lucas.

Christine graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1955. She continued her education at the University of Dayton and Sinclair Community College in 1956 and later worked at Miami Valley Hospital.

She enjoyed traveling, roller skating, tennis, reading, cooking, and catering for various events. Christine loved the Lord deeply and was a long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She devoted over 20 years to the school system, teaching disabled children essential life skills to support their daily living. She also found joy in leading Girl Scouts and mentoring young people.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Tonya R. Matthews (Ralph); two nieces she lovingly reared, Di Anna L. Pennington and De Anna L. Wallace (William); five grandchildren; and a host of other great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
