Herbert L. Underwood, Sr.

Herbert Leon Underwood, Sr. was born January 7, 1943 to Jesse and Christine Underwood in Birmingham, Alabama. He departed this life on June 6, 2020 after a short illness.

He accepted Christ at an early age and moved to Dayton, Ohio with his parents and became a member of St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Alonzo Looney. He regularly attended with his family.

He attended Dayton Public Schools and after obtaining his GED, he joined workforce at General Motors.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie Underwood, his parents, daughter Monica Underwood; brothers: Jesse, Luther, Tim and William “Mookie.”

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted son Herbert, Jr. (Shawn); his ever loving sister Davora Jenkins; grandchildren Jessica Underwood (Keith Sean) and Antuan (Brandy) Passmore; great-grandchildren Ava, Lia, Ashton; brothers: James (Joyce) Cameron of Trotwood, Ohio and Roy Farley of Chicago, Illinois; Uncle Joe Underwood of Dayton, Ohio and great Aunt Rosa Hughes of Birmingham, AL along with a  host of other relatives and friends.
