Jayda Danielle Grant was born August 22, 2001 in Gainesville, FL. She was the fourth born of five children to Anthony and Christina Grant: AJ, Preston, Makai and her heavenly brother, Brandon Harrell (02/06/99). As the only girl, she was her mother’s “Mommi” and her Daddy’s “Baby Girl”. And to many of her friends she was “Jay”.
Jayda was an excellent student and blossomed into a creative writer. She attended primary school at Robious Elementary School (Virginia) and Holy Spirit Catholic (Alabama) where she began her love for reading. She attended Oklahoma Christian School in Oklahoma City where she played basketball and ran track. When the family relocated to Dayton, Jayda continued her love for running track at Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School (Class of 2019) where she excelled in the 4x400, 200M and 400M races. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Dayton pursuing a degree in Psychology. Jayda enjoyed reading, writing, spending time with her dogs and connecting with friends. She had a strong passion for social justice issues, whether in the US or abroad. She advocated for marginalized communities including the LGBTQ+. Jayda had a heart of gold and a deep love for those she held dear.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Anthony and Christina Grant, her brothers, AJ, Preston and Makai; her grandmother Georgia Woods and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends in each community she touched.
