Jimmie’s Life’s Journey
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23
Jimmie Lee Williams, affectionately known as “Jim” graced the world with his presence on June 15, 1932. Jimmie was gifted into the loving hands of the late John Williams and Cleo (Clark) Williams in the small city of Stillmore, located in Emanuel County, Georgia. Jimmie received his education within the Emanuel County Public School System.
During his teenage years, Jimmie accepted Christ as his Savior securing his reservation for eternal life. He later became a faithful member of the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church for over sixty-five years. His faith was his anchor and compass, reflected not in just words but in the way he lived and showed up for others.
Jimmie served his country with distinction in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
On June 30, 1956, Jimmie married the love of his life the late Valdoshia (Val) Cosby. Together they shared sixty-seven years of blissful marriage, rooted in faith, devotion and a deep and abiding love that inspired everyone blessed to witness it. Jimmie and Val’s union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Verna and Cheutaunia. His daughters were the center of his world; he loved them dearly and worked tirelessly to be a great father and provider.
Never a stranger to challenging work, Jimmie worked for the Oberer Construction Company and retired from the Delco Chassis Division of General Motors where he worked for over 28 years.
Jimmie’s passions were rooted in the outdoors—from casting a line and expertly filleting his fish, to cultivating a thriving garden and taking pride in keeping a pristine lawn with his “zero turn” riding lawn mower.
With his ready smile and enthusiastic sense of humor, Jimmie never met a stranger and would make you laugh until you had to bend over and cry. Jimmie also had a fondness for storytelling and playing cards. He was a wise, considerate, and generous person who understood the needs, hopes and desires of those who mattered most to him, family, and friends. Jimmie was respected and loved by many. He faced life with dignity and death without despair.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, God Almighty, who is perfect in all things, called His servant Jimmie Lee Williams to his heavenly home.
