Joe L. Curtis, age 88 departed this life peacefully, Sunday, February 22, 2026, to enter a new life with his creator and beloved wife, Doris. He was born August 5th, 1937, to the late Alonzo and Victoria Curtis in Dellrose, Tennessee, and united in marriage with Doris Curtis (Thomas) on May 28th 1960 to this union four sons were born, Joel, Steven, Mark and Timothy. As a young man, Joe then moved north to Dayton, Ohio and started working for and later retired from General Motors. He was an active and faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E Zion where he served on the Board of Deacons. Later, he joined Bethel A.M.E. Church in Middletown, Ohio and served the church and community. Joe enjoyed traveling to family reunions, various real estate endeavors and his family. After marrying the love of his life, Doris in 1960 they bought an eighteen acre farm in Germantown, Ohio. There, they raised their four sons while he worked at GM and ran the farm. Joe was known as a hardworking, devoted husband, father and Christian man, who gave his all to his family, church and friends. He never hesitated to help anyone in need. His love for his grandchildren was unparalleled. Everyone knew his love for the church, family and life. Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris, eight brothers, Lee Allen Curtis, Leonard Curtis, Samuel Curtis, Orlucas Curtis, Alton Curtis, Boyd A. Curtis, Alonzo Curtis Jr., Alvin Curtis, and three sisters, Oleatha Curtis-Black, Thelma Curtis-Gasden and Etta Curtis-Cromwell, parents; Alonzo and Victoria Curtis, many nieces, nephews and grandparents. Joe leaves us to cherish his memories Joel, Steven (Robin), Mark, Timothy; beloved grandchildren, Deion and Kayla, sister, Anne Driver and many nieces and nephews.
