Johwana Jones Obituary

Johwana "Wandy" Elaine Jones a dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend sadly passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, after battling cancer for over 10 years and succumbing to a massive stroke. She was born to Connie Nell Dewberry and William Edgar Hughes on October 15, 1967. She was born in Dayton, Ohio and after graduating from Dunbar High School in 1986, she worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Security Clearance for almost 10 years and later worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and taught at Ret Technical College as a Medical Instructor. Johwana met her husband, (Calvin Jones, Jr.,) in 2012 and they were married on August 17, 2013, and were together for 12 years.


Johwana was baptized and a member of "All Nations Bible Fellowship" Church (Jimmy Mann, Sr.,) the presiding Pastor. She loved writing poetry, decorating, serving others in the community, a devoted member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and Kingdom Mindset and enjoyed spending time with family and close friends. 


Johwana was preceded in death by her beloved late parents (Connie Dewberry, William Hughes), daughter; (Leah Renee Smith}, and siblings; (William Dwight Dewberry, Johnnell Dewberry), and paternal grandmother of grandkids (Ceola Smith). She was survived in death by her husband (Calvin Jones), Children; (Brandon Smith), Terrence Jones (Erica), stepdaughter (Toccara Jones), and stepson (Tommy Jones, Jr.,) grandchildren; Lance Newson, Jaden Smith, Namiya Smith, Terrence Jones Jr., Mia Elaine Jones, Kyrie Clay and Siblings; Dennis Dewberry, Tonda Robinson (Jerry), Brenda Jordan (Thomas), Lucretia McElrath (Terry), Nikki Dewberry, John Dewberry (Tasha), Lamar Hughes, and Bryan Moore along with special acknowledgement to her beloved auntie Brenda "Faye" Sills, cousin Lanita "Nita" Baxter (Jimmy), special close nephews; Bj Brown (Amber), Jevon Brown (Kelsey), Amari McAtee, & Bernard Jones (Rosealure), cherished niece (Chanice Curry) and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
