Korry D. Rice Obituary

Korry D. Rice passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on December 27, 1976,
Korry lived a life filled with laughter, fun, and deep love for his family and friends. His
presence brought joy to those around him, and his warm spirit made lasting impressions on
everyone fortunate enough to know him. Most importantly, Korry knew the Lord and carried
his faith with him throughout his life.

Korry was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Rice, and his brother, Christopher
Rice.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Barbara A. Rice; his sons, Khristopher
D. Rice and Khaleb K. Rice; his sister, Kimberly D. Rice; his nieces, Amber (Robert) Reid and
Sierra Waver; and his nephews, Christian Waver and Cameron Waver.

In addition to his immediate family, Korry leaves behind a host of cousins who brought him
great joy throughout his life. He shared a special bond with his brother/cousin, Myron Epps,
Terry Malone, Marko Rice, Freeman Ward, and his sister/cousin Tonya Ross, and Terri Veal,
as well as extended family and loving friends, who will deeply miss his presence and gentle spirit.

He also treasured his lifelong friendships with Jonathan Heard Sr., LaShawn Motley, and his
dear friend Lavar Makupson, who preceded him in death, as well as countless others, too
many to name.

Korry was a loyal Chicago Bears fan through every heartbreaking season, questionable play
call, and "maybe next year" conversation. Win, lose, or tied a t halftime, he stood beside his
team faithfully. He also proudly represented the Ohio State Buckeyes football and the
Chicago Bulls as if it were a full-time job. If sports loyalty were a championship, Korry definitely retired with multiple rings.

Korry was a protector by nature. Throughout his years working in security, he built
countless friendships, many of which became like family to him. No matter where he was or
who he encountered, Korry made people feel looked after and safe. Before parting ways,
he would often say, "Y'all be safe," usually followed by his signature hand gesture, a simple
but meaningful reminder of the love, care, and protection he carried for others every day.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Cleavon Matthews Sr., the brothers
and sisters of Northwest Church of Christ, Residence Park Church of Christ, and the
Jefferson High School Class of 1995 for their compassion, prayers, encouragement, and
unwavering support during this difficult time.
