Leona Anita (Alford) White, age 75, of Dayton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2023. Leona confessed her life to Christ at an early age and has been a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ all the days of her life. She was born on June 26, 1947 to the late Harvey Alford Jr. and Minnie Lee Alford. Leona was a member of Agape Journey of Awakening ministry.
Preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Minnie Lee Alford; brother, Robert L. Alford. She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Robin C. White and Leonita M. White; grandchildren, Lavelle M. Hatcher Jr. (Sae), Caiden C. Smith; great grandson, Jayson L. Hatcher; siblings, Theresa L. Alford, Harvey J. Alford III, Freda Z. Winston; nephews, Mark S. Winston Jr., Raeshon D. Bowers niece, Marla L. Winston; honorary sons, Christopher R. Smith, Romulus D. Williams; goddaughter, Brenda N. Jordan Sr. (Thomas); a host of cousins, relatives, and many dear friends.
Leona graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1966. She attended Sinclair Community College where she received many certificates. In her early years, she was a beautician and a nursing assistant for a brief moment. Leona was an employee of General Motors for 28 years where she later retired. She was an active member of her Dunbar Class Alumni and the community in which she lived. Leona served on the Northwest Priority Board and was a volunteer of the neighborhood watch. She was a member of Women of Purpose International. Leona was a self-made entrepreneur selling many things including: Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware, nutritional supplements, and she was a copper merchant. Leona loved helping and meeting new people. She was a shining light in our lives. To know her was to love her. She will always be remembered as being a loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful sister, a supportive aunt, and a devoted friend.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3375 Pastor S.N. Winston Way (formerly W. Siebenthaler Ave), Dayton, OH. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Arrangements entrusted to H.H. Roberts Mortuary, Inc./Entombment West Memory Gardens.
