Leonard Webb Obituary

Leonard Charles Webb (affectionately known as “Sweet Daddy Webb”) age 88, departed this life on Monday October 28, 2024.  He was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Frank Sr. and Jessie Webb on August 5, 1936. 


After graduation from Carver High School in Gadsden, he went on to attend Tennessee State University.  Afterwards he moved to Dayton, Ohio in the early 1960s and resided there for the remainder of his life. 


Leonard accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Sweet Home Methodist Church in Gadsden.  In Dayton, he became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as chief of security for many years.  He was a talented vocalist and often sang at church and special occasions for family and friends.  A gifted athlete, he played football for the Dayton Colts, semi-professional football team.


He was a retired employee of the Inland Division of General Motors with over 35 years of service.  He also, served his country as a member of the Ohio Army National Guard.


In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Estella, stepdaughter and son-in-law, Runette and Theo McCloe.  Siblings Frank (Doris) Webb Jr., Essie Mae McKinney, William D. Webb, Alonzo (Mary) Webb Sr., J. Thomas Webb; grandson Eric Raglin Sr, nephew Alonzo Webb Jr., and sister in-law Elner Burnam Reeves.


He is survived by his three children, Randall (Kim) Webb of Dayton, Roderic (Toni) Webb of Denver N.C. and Rhonda Webb of Phoenix AZ; seven grandchildren, Tiffani Webb, Matthew Webb, Tiera Webb all of Dayton, Christenina Webb of Houston TX, Ma’Keda Webb and Ewuare Webb of Phoenix AZ, and LaShell (James) Aubrey of Columbus Ohio; ten great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; .sister-in-law Eliza Webb, special nieces Ava Webb-Sharpless and Valerie Norton; .special cousins Don Pickett and Debra Humphrey.  Also left to cherish his memory are close friends John Hutson and Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Motley; as well as a host of many other family and friends.  Sweet Daddy will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
