Mrs. Lillie M. Cooper, age 88, was the first child born to Rev. Jim and Preshious Taylor on March 4, 1932 in Leeds, Alabama. She resided in Dayton, Ohio for many years. She was a Charter Member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church and a Founding member of Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church. She served faithfully as Choir Director, Missionary Board and the Mother’s Board. She was affectionately called “Mother Cooper.”
She retired from St. Elizabeth Medical Center with 34 years of service. Mrs. Cooper loved to sing, pray and mentoring to young people. She enjoyed cooking and cakes were her specialty. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Cooper departed this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 with her loving family by her side.
Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cooper; mother and father; brothers: Howard Taylor; Matthew Taylor and Horace Taylor Leeds, Alabama; sisters: Roberta Sims, Birmingham, Alabama; Jimmie Taylor, Leeds, Alabama.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Gwendolyn Martin; son, James Cooper, Sr., Charlotte, South Carolina; grandchildren she raised: Rev. Paul (Pam) Cooper, Las Vegas, NV and Preshious Cooper, Tallahassee, Florida; special grandchildren: Jessica Cooper-Rollins; James Cooper, Jr., Jaydey Cooper; Jordan Cooper; five great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. sister: Barbara Devoe, Deltona, FL; sisters in-law: Marcia Cooper, Middletown, Ohio; Mattie Cooper, Dayton, Ohio: Lorene Taylor, Leeds, Alabama. Special friend: Rose Shine and two adopted children, Lois and Wanda Lander. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and the Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church family.
