Lloyd Willard Scott Obituary

Lloyd Willard Scott, was born on August 21, 1935 in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late James and Annie Will Calhoun Scott. He entered into eternal life on December 3, 2024. “Billy” or “Scotty”, as he was affectionately known, attained the seasoned age of 89.

We are confident that Lloyd was greeted with a resounding “welcome home” from his parents and all his pre-deceased siblings, including Nathaniel, James, Essalene and Albert, as well as several nephews and other loved ones who have gone before him.

Scotty was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and served as the pianist and choir director for many years beginning at age 14. It was widely known that the choir was the best in the city of Dayton under his tutelage. The album “Peace Be Still” was recorded prior to his departure from Dayton, Ohio for his career.

Scotty was a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1953. He then attended the Ohio State University and graduated from West Virginia State University in 1958. While in college Lloyd was initiated into the illustrious Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He was an Army Veteran, having served 2 years post college. He had an outstanding government career, where his last assignment was with the Department of Justice as an Auditor of the Federal Prison Systems. Retiring at age 55, with 30 years of service, he received a commendation noted in the United States Congressional Record on April 1, 1987. It was often joked that he was retired longer than he worked! A sign of a life well lived.

Billy loved all things Ohio State and the Washington Redskins. It was never difficult to buy him gifts as a result. He hosted many viewing parties to cheer on his teams which brought him great joy.

Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory, his remaining sibling of 11, Dolores “Lochie” Stallings, Trotwood, Ohio; nieces, Beverly Campbell of Stafford, TX., Brenda Coleman of Huntingtown, MD, Renell Smedley of Ruston, LA., Mildred Bailey, Paula Scott, Annie Williams and Michelle Chastain of Dayton, OH., Sheila Mixon and Christina Scott of West Chester, OH., and Lisa Smith of Henderson, NV, nephew, Michael Trammell of Minneapolis, MN; grand nieces, Deborah, Sharon, LaJuana, Tasha, Laa’Iqa, Cassandra and Aneka, grand nephews Caldwell, Gregory, William, Stephen, Christopher, Khalid, Brian, Jermaine, Eric and Marqus will forever miss his presence; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins of the Calhoun and Etheridge branches, as well. Additionally, missing his presence are his friends Toni, Rich, Kevin, Betty, Willie and H.A., with whom he shared a love of sports, along with many others too numerous to name.

Billy will be greatly missed. His passing leaves a void that can only be filled by the Lord.
