Lynn Shackleford
Lynn Shackleford Obituary
Lynn Rose Shackleford, 73 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Born to loving parents on January 2, 1953, Clifford Sr. and Anna Hodges.
A lifelong Daytonian, Lynn graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, class of 1972.
A lifelong devoted member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities as needed. Her devotion to Missionary Services, Hospitality, and Pastor’s Aid were among her most fulfilling labors of love.
Lynn’s career spanned decades in education and child services, where she dedicated herself to the learning and development of elementary students and partnered with social services to advocate for child protection and family reunification.
After retiring, and with the advancement of technology, Lynn found a new passion (and obsession): Candy Crush and social media. She became a subject matter expert in both in a short period of time. She could also always be found in the kitchen, cooking full-course meals daily.
Lynn’s greatest accomplishments, most treasured gifts, and greatest reward were her family. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, she cherished time spent together—building memories and spreading love.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Lee Shackleford; her parents, Clifford Sr. and Anna (Thomas) Hodges; her brother, Clifford Hodges Jr.; and her niece, Andrea Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Sanita Lynn Shackleford and LaRonna Lee (Dale Jr.) Richardson; her sister, Lauretta Thomas; her brother, Timothy Hodges; her grandson, Ronald Chappell; her niece, Tianna Hodges; her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Shackleford; her glam baby, Calani Harris (Papa & Gigi’s Charlie); her beloved friend, Brenda Moore; and all her family and friends.
May her love continue to be our guide. Our memories of her are the treasure we hold in our hearts.
