Marcus Antonio Johnson Obituary

Marcus Antonio, beloved son of Winnie C Johnson, beloved father of Kea’Aunie Mustin and beloved brother of Franklin A, Terrell A and Mariah C Johnson was swept up into the arms of our Lord and Savior joining his father, Frank A Johnson, and other relatives and friends on July 3, 2021 at 4:23pm.

As a child, Marcus was a big thinker, never accepting things unless he read it a book. He was a little songbird and sang in his father’s band, “Little Bro Production” The black and ivory keys on the keyboard connected majestically and graciously when Marcus’ fingers went to work. A few days before his passing, Marcus began bragging about a tune he was working on. Know that I will be listening when the wind blows to hear his masterpiece.  He was a wonderful and devoted big brother to his little sister Mariah and they became partners in crime when he was left to watch her.

Marcus was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 2003. He served his country faithfully during the Iraq conflict from November, 2003 to March, 2007. He received numerous awards and medals and was granted an honorable discharge. However, when Marcus returned home after serving his country, his struggles began due to the haunting memories of serving in a war-torn country.  You see, Marcus was taught to love your neighbor and be kind to one another.

Marcus continued to search for peace and happiness. It was during this time that he planted himself back into his home church of New Hope Lutheran Church, helping in the food pantry and doing general tasks around the church whenever they needed help.

The family of Marcus asks that you keep them in your prayers during this difficult time. Winnie and Mariah are asking that the tears that are shed not be tears of sadness but tears of joy because Marcus has finally earned the peace and happiness he so richly deserved.
