Marion Rice Obituary

Marion S. Rice was born June 11, 1931 in Ellison, Arkansas to Mason Sr., and Ethel Carney Rice. He departed this life on November 20, 2021.

He was a former member of Home Avenue Church of God where he founded the Men's Organization and the male chorus under the direction of Nathan Perry.  He was a Trustee, sanctuary choir member, and adult Sunday school teacher.  He currently attended the East 2nd Street Church of God in Xenia, Ohio where he was President of the Men's U.M.I.C., chairman of the Trustee Board, and adult Sunday school teacher.

Marion started his own business, Federated Income Tax Service which he continued until this year.  He attended Philander Smith College where he was recruited to play basketball.  He left college to join the United States Air Force where he served in the military police force.  After being honorably discharged from the military, he relocated to Dayton, Ohio where he began a career at Wright Patterson AirForce Base.  He was a computer programmer/specialist and a data analyst.  Marion was an Eagle Scout, avid bowler, and coin collector. He was a quiet person who could find the most humorous stories to tell.  He found pleasure in having his family around him.  His favorite line of scripture was from Joshua 24:15... As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  After church, Sunday was all about football and his favorite team the Cleveland Browns.

Marion was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel C. Clark, father Mason Rice Sr., son - Marion (Patricia) Rice Jr. Brothers, James Rice, Mason Rice Jr., sisters Iona Lee Rice, and Roxie Myles.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Patricia Rice, children, Andrea (Richard) Mack, Angela Rice, Antony Rice, Anitria (Travis) Otey, Sharon (Jeffrey) Whitmore.  Grandchildren Jordan (Hannah) Brown, Arkeice Rice, Kristina Tossas, Joshua Mack, Kaelyn Rice; Caleb Otey, Emanuel Donaldson, Jasmine Rice, Justin Rice, and Jared Rice. Great-grandchildren, Amaura and Aliyah Lavender, Camden and Caliana Brown, and Justin Jr. and Brandon Rice.
