Mark Carey Caldwell “Markie Shane” was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 4, 1964. He departed this life unexpectedly on November 24, 2021. Mark was the youngest of five sons born to Mary Alice (Watson) Caldwell and James E. Caldwell Jr. He was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, class of 1982 and went on to attend Dayton Barber College, obtaining his barber’s license in 1985. Mark became a legendary barber, being so talented he earned the name “Markie Shane.”
Mark had a passion for cutting hair, and one of his proudest moments was, as co-owner, opening Superior Cuts Barber Shop of Trotwood in January 1998.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James E. “Spunky” Caldwell, III, and his father, James E. Caldwell, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mary Caldwell, brothers, Ronald (Yvonne) Caldwell, Melvin Caldwell and Jeffrey Caldwell; a loving host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and special friends.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at H.H. Roberts Mortuary, 38 S. Gettysburg Ave. A private service for family and close friends will follow at 1:30 p.m.
