Maudestine Smith Obituary

Maudestine Smith was born December 26, 1932 in Athens, Georgia to the union of Roger Evans and Willie Mae Terrell Evans. In 1945, the family relocated to Dayton, Ohio.


She was a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School Class of 1951, and served on The Alumni Board over 30 years. She was a faithful member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 60 years, and served as an usher 30 years. In 1970, she retired from Frigidaire Division of General Motors, after 17 years of service.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Smith Sr.; sister, Willie Lou Evans Weaver; sons, Thomas Eugene Williams Jr. & James Edward Smith Jr.; grandson, Shawn Dawson and aunt, Janie Bullock.


She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Dwain Kirk Smith; sister, Patricia Lovejoy; granddaughters, LaTisha Smith & Tawana Smith; great granddaughters, LaVaeh Billingsley & Taniya Winfrey; nieces, Regina Weaver, Oretha Smith, Jackie Smith, Angela Smith and Portia Smith; nephews, Dwight Weaver, Jessie Weaver, Hank Smith & Willie Lovejoy; dear friends, Ann Paddock, Linda Ross, Nadine Ginwright, Mary Moore and Betty Hancock; other relatives and friends.
