Michael Eugene Long is a native of Dayton, OH, born August 19, 1949, to James Arthur Long and Laura (Rasberry) Long.
Michael transitioned into eternal life on February 6, 2023, at the age of 73. He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings, Brother: James Long Jr. and Sister: Jacqueline Long.
Michael attended Roosevelt High School in Dayton, OH. After high school, Michael joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He then returned home and worked various jobs before settling in at General Motors Delphi Division where he worked for most of his life and from which he later retired from. Michael was best known for his BBQ skills, love for fishing, music, dressing and smelling good. He was also a LOYAL fan of the Cleveland Browns. Michael also enjoyed his motorcycles which led him to the Toros motorcycle club in Dayton, OH, where he was active for many years until retiring.
Michael loved his family and friends, he never met a stranger and loved to positively encourage young people. He also loved the Lord and attended Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, OH where he served on the bus ministry, food pantry committee, male chorus, senior choir, chairman of men’s day, and loved to cook with the men of church. Upon relocating to Paducah, Kentucky, Michael joined Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the kitchen committee, male chorus, and the bus ministry. He also supported the “We Care” ministry and various other ministries in the church.
Michael is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 50 years, Beverly (Hogan) Long, his son Michael (Toyia) Long II, daughter Theresa (Eric) Hartage; 7 grandchildren: Ryan Jennings, Riante Edmondson, Michael Long III, Jae’Don Blanchard, Xamari Long, Jordan Blanchard, and Tyler Long , 2 great grandchildren: Aiyannah Edmondson and Xavier Buck, devoted brother Gregory (Yankee) Long, Sr.; Mother-in-law Rita J. Blair; Brother-in- law Bruce (Mary ShirLynn) Hogan, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
