Mildred Elizabeth White was born May 26, 1928 in Huntsville, Alabama and resided in Dayton most of her life. Mildred was preceded in death her parents Parker and Helen Burks, daughter Phyllis McGill, brother Bert L. Burks, sister Helen Steed.
Mildred graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1945. After 30 years of service, she retired from WPAFB as an accounting Technician. She was a member of the Dunbar High School Alumni Association and Church Women United. Mildred was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist church active with the Sunday School, Sisterhood, Missionary Society, and the Usher Board until her health failed.
She is survived by two sons, William McGill, and Steven McGill (Jean) of Carrollton, TX; brother, Charles Burks (Linda); seven grandchildren, including a devoted grandson, Martin Smith; several great grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews; special friend Jackie Colvard. Many thanks to nieces Joan Brown (Rev. Charles), Janet Manning (Henry), and Roberta Taylor, nephew Jerald Steed, who have been most thoughtful of Mildred since the death of her daughter, Phyllis.
