Mrs. Nancy Harris Carr was born August 26, 1931 to the late Burnis and Marie Harris in Minden Louisiana. She received her wings to her Heavenly Home on July 13, 2025.
She was educated in Minden, LA. Nancy was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Calm Baptist Church. She was active in all organizations of the church.
Nancy was united in holy matrimony to the late, Jimmie Carr on November 26, 1950, and relocated to Dayton, OH shortly thereafter. She united with Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. James B. Outlaw. Her membership lasted sixty plus years. Nancy worked diligently in every capacity of the church, Superintendent, Sunday School Leader, B.T.U., President of Senior Choir, Missionary and The Golden Agers. She served as president of The Montgomery County Western Division Baptist Church, Past Worthy Matron of Deborah Chapter 19 OES. Nancy graduated from United Theological Seminary.
Nancy is preceded in death by four brothers: Fred, Bennie, Grady, and Leonard Harris; Grandson: Phillip Hunter.
Her memories will be cherished by her four daughters: Brenda (James) Bradshaw, Kathy (Lewis) Hunter, Jimmie (Winifred) Addison, Bonnie J. McClain of all Dayton OH; one sister: Patsy Harris Pogue; Grandchildren: Tashiko Broadhead, Keauna McClain, Darshawn Dudley, Aisha Wilburn, Lewis Hunter Jr., Daniel Hunter, Stephen McClain, Todd McClain, Jahi Henderson; Great Grandson, Nephews, Nieces, and a host of other relatives & friends.
