Nettie Mae Spidell, age 88, transitioned peacefully in her home in Dayton, Ohio, on April 12, 2025. Nettie was born on February 4, 1937, in Carroll County, Georgia, to the late Robert Ware and the late Claire Scott Duncan. Nettie was a member of Unstoppable Ministries; Inc. Nettie was a sewist for Economy Linen from which she retired.
Nettie was preceded in death by both parents; husband Gentle Thomas Spidell; sons, Robert and James; daughters, Michelle, and Erma Spidell; longtime dear friends, Mattie “Aunt” Garth and Norma “Pee-wee” Black.
Survived by daughters, Rena (Jerry) Atkinson of Indiana, Darlene (King) Prather, LaSonya and LaTonya Spidell; sons, John (Tai) Spidell, Dwayne (Tonya) Spidell, all of Dayton: Todgrek (Tammy) Spidell of Cleveland, Ohio; brother Jimmy (Libbey) Duncan of Tennessee; sister Bonnie Duncan of New Jersey. Former son-in-law, Charles Young. And many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. A host of many extended family and friends.
Services will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at H.H. Roberts Mortuary, 38 S. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH 45417. Visitation at 10:00am. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
