NORMA JEAN LARTIGUE - A QUEEN, A MOTHER, AND A FRIEND

Sunrise March 27, 1934 – Sunset June 14, 2026

Norma Jean Lartigue (Roebuck) was born March 27, 1934 to the late Paul Edward and Mary Roebuck, the only girl and youngest of 3 siblings to brothers Theodore Roebuck Sr., Paul Roebuck Jr., (both deceased).

Norma Jean’s bold, indomitable spirit was evident when she was just a little girl. She was intelligent, with a personality & beauty admired by many, while attending Roosevelt High School. She was a fun, loving, hardworking mother, who would ensure her family enjoyed a delicious meal after working 2 jobs and made doing chores around the home so much fun! She was a caring mother who knew how to make every ache, scratch, fear and disappointment go away. Norma Jean loved the Lord, always prayed over and with her children, instilling the same unconquerable spirit in them to dream big and go far!

Filled with a heart of gold, Norma was a woman loved by all the neighborhood kids, growing up. She was a proud, model employee at Model Cities, Elder Beerman, the Job Opportunities Center in California, and served as an administrative assistant for Jesse Jackson’s campaign for one year.

Norma was a talented writer, poet and artist as well!  She loved bowling, singing, dancing, and playing cards, specifically Bid Whist! If you’d never been to BOSTON before, she definitely was going to take you there! Despite her physical challenges, she maintained her joy and feisty spirit well into her 90s, by doing the things she LOVED - drawing, playing cards, spending time with family and friends!

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 2:17 PM, the Lord opened his arms and peacefully welcomed his beloved child, Norma Jean Lartigue, into her heavenly home. She had been under the watchful care at The Laurels of Kettering for almost a year. Although her physical body is gone, her presence and legacy will live on forever!

Norma leaves to cherish her memory, her 7 beautiful children: Daria Dillard Stone, Dwight A. Dillard (deceased), Gilbert Dwayne Dillard, Leroy McLemore Jr., Tammara Gillespie, Phillip Kevin (Monika) McLemore and Ronda Peters (deceased); her 26 grandchildren: Keisha, Katoshi, Billi, Dwight Jr. Angela, Dwight B., Damion, Alexander D., Dyan (deceased), Christal, De’Nisha, Dwana, Telisa, Deidre, Kenyatta, TaKeisha, Kanieshia, Lachon’e (deceased), LaVon’e, LaKisha, Alexander M., Theodore, Jillian, Ja’Vonte, James and Jeffery; over 33 great-grandchildren, more than 12 great-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-great-grandchild, and a host of extended relatives!  She was so proud of her ever-growing family, passing many of her gifts and talents down through the generations, and we were equally as proud to call her Mama, Nana, Auntie, Cousin, and friend!

The family will honor The Queen NORMA JEAN with a private “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at The Omega Baptist Church, 1821 Emerson Ave, Dayton, OH.
