Rev. John Jackson, Jr. was born in Montgomery, Alabama on May 24, 1936, and departed this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
He was employed by the City of Dayton for 14 years, a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he was ordained in the ministry on April 21, 1967, and he later joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church for 44 years and Refuge Baptist Church for 6 years, and had a 42-year career with Dayton Public Schools working at Dunbar, Cornell White, Roth, Longfellow and Wogaman.
Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Minnie (Terry) Jackson, Sr.; sisters, Lovie Johnson, Elizabeth McKeller; brothers, Earnest Perry, and Edward Perry.
Leaving to cherish his memory, wife of 53 years, Denise; daughters, Verletta A. Jackson, Teresa Jackson- (Dante’ Sr.) Baker, Brenda Jackson (Dewayne) Martin, Dr. Daria Yvonne (Rev. Dr. Bryant) Graham; sons, Rev. Dr. John Robert Jackson, Rev. Clyde C. (Loudell) Jackson and Vincent Jackson; and 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Visitation with family and friends 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, with funeral to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3375 Pastor S. N. Winston Way (formerly W. Siebenthaler Ave.), Dayton, OH 45406, Rev. Sam Winston, Jr., pastor and officiant, Pastor John R. Jackson eulogist. Internment at West Memory Gardens.
