Rhonda Mize, a life-long resident of Dayton, Ohio, passed away at the age of 52, on Friday, November 25, 2022. She was surrounded by her family and close friends during her peaceful transition.
Rhonda confessed Christ at an early age, and continued her walk as a true disciple. A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and devoted friend, Rhonda never grew tired of giving of herself to family, friends, and her community. Through her strength, courage, and unrelenting optimism, she was a role model and inspiration to all. With the purest of heart, she loved unconditionally.
Rhonda was born on February 4, 1970, in Dayton. She graduated from Dunbar High School, class of 1989, where her love for dance and school spirit afforded her the opportunity to be a part of the school’s cheerleading squad and other extracurricular activities. She would later go on to attend Knoxville College.
After returning from college, Rhonda began her career with Synchrony Financial (formerly Bank One) where she provided customer support for more than 25 years before leaving the workforce to focus on her health and well-being. Rhonda continued to maintain close contact with her former Synchrony colleagues. The week prior to her hospitalization, she was out and about, having a great time joking, laughing, and reminiscing with them at a retirement celebration.
Rhonda’s enormous passion for children and their development was a true calling card. Through her commitment and love of youth, Rhonda implemented and directed a summer development camp – Camp IQ. Camp IQ fostered an atmosphere of personal growth for each child and allowed for fun, safe educational and recreational programs, and group and outdoor activities while children were away from home during the summer months. She was overjoyed to provide them with the tools needed to be successful young adults. Rhonda’s spirit will forever live within the Camp IQ kids and the summer youth workers as they continue to use those life skills and learning experiences to excel as students and young adults.
Rhonda always encouraged, empowered, and uplifted women by helping them look and feel good about themselves. For more than 28 years, Rhonda worked as an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay, actively providing consultations and fulfilling orders up to the day she entered the hospital.
