Robert W. Gooden Sr. Obituary
Robert W. Gooden Sr., a gifted artist and dedicated community pillar, transitioned from this life on March 27, 2026, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was 69 years old.
Born April 4, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, Robert was the beloved son of the late Reverend Warner W. Gooden Jr. and Ida Mae Gooden. A proud 1974 graduate of Roth High School, Robert pursued his passion for the arts at Sinclair Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Commercial Art.
A lifelong, faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Robert’s life was rooted in his spiritual community. He served the congregation through his gift of song in the choir and was an active participant in the Layman League, Sunday School, and the Baptist Training Union (BTU).
Robert was a man of diverse talents and a strong work ethic. His professional journey included service with the Miami Township Police Department and NCR. However, he was perhaps best known for his entrepreneurial spirit as a self-employed Commercial Artist. His creative vision left an indelible mark on the Greater Dayton area, particularly in West Dayton. His portfolio included custom advertisements for the Ohio Lottery, branding for local small businesses, and work for the First Dayton Little League.
Recognized from a young age for his natural artistic ability, Robert saw the world through a creative lens. Beyond his professional work, he was an avid sports enthusiast and a seasoned traveler. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, living a life defined by vibrancy and purpose.
